Day 5- Smiling's My Favorite!

I absolutely love movie quotes. Sometimes I feel like my conversations are comprised of about 2% movie quotes. Needless to say, when I saw this quote from "Elf," I knew I had to use it.

For my card, I used the Cover a Card Thick and Thin (CC008) in red ink to create a peppermint looking background. I also included the new elf image (Jingle E11049) and the I like to smile (C3863) saying. I colored the elf with watercolor pencils and then blended everything with a Dove Blender pen.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog this week. I have enjoyed sharing the new IO release with you!

Day 4- Fly Away

Today is day four of the Blog Hop and has the added theme of "Fly Away."  I thought it was the perfect opportunity to show you the brand new Bird Line (G13030) image. I really like to work with solid images because they give you all kinds of technique opportunities. For my card today, I stamped the birds onto some patterned paper from the Basic Grey Plumeria line. I embossed them with clear embossing powder and then let them cool completely. I then added some Peacock Feathers and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks on top of the patterned paper so that it covered up a lot of the plaid. The embossed birds resisted the ink and allowed the plaid to show through. When I spritzed the paper with some Gold Shimmer Spritz (Colorbox), it added a metallic sheen to the paper. Here is a close-up of the metallic quality of the card:

In my final picture, I wanted to show you how much patterned paper changes when you add ink on top of it. You really can get a lot of looks out of one piece of paper depending on the inks you choose:

Day 3- Live, Laugh, Love

I hope you have enjoyed the blog hop so far. I know I love seeing what the other designers create.

For today's card, I wanted to show you one of the new Gary Robertson images. He has a bunch of new fall stamps this year.  As some of you already know, I am such a sucker for a rubber stamp with a pumpkin (or three) on it. They just make me happy.

Once again, I colored my image with Copic markers. Whenever I had a really small space to color, I switched to Prismacolor pencils instead.

Day 2- Boo!

Well, I did a Christmas card yesterday, so it felt like it was time for a Halloween card. For this card, I used one of the new Claudia Tenorio-Pearl stamps called Jack and Jill (G11040). It is such a fun image to color with Copic markers. I also added a bit of stickles to the wings to make them sparkle. To finish the card, I popped up the Boo (A11054) saying.

CHA Week

Well, it is that time again. This week the Impression Obsession team will be showing you the new CHA release for fall/winter.  There will be a chance to see lots of new images as well as chances to win IO gift certificates.  I hope you will be stopping by to check out all the fun things we have planned this week.

For my first sneak-peek, I chose a card I made that would be very easy to reproduce if you needed to make a large quantity of holiday cards. I kept the color scheme simple and made use of the new mitten border to be the main focus of the card.  I added a background that was made using a snowflake folder and then added one of the new IO sayings.  Easy!

And now for the information you really want...how to win an IO gift certificate:
  • A Gift Certificate Drawing will be held every day and an extra one on Friday.
  • To be eligible to win each day leave a comment on the blog for each participating DT member.
  • Posts are closed for each day at 10 p.m., EST, for that day's drawing.

All About the Dies

Today's Impression Obsession challenge is all about dies. I have to admit that the die I have been using the most is the new Branch Die (DIE007-L). Honestly, it just seems to go with everything, and it adds just the right amount of embellishment. I also think it might be my new "go to" when I make a mistake. Usually I say, "Stick a button on that mistake," but I think I might change it to "Just put a leaf over it." It is all about the fix! To finish the card, I added the You've Got a Friend saying (C3766).

Need more inspiration to "die" for?  Check out what Daniela, Dina, Jeanne, Jenny, Julie, and Vicki created. Want to play along? You can find all the information here, and you could even win a $25 IO gift certificate!

PS...sorry about the bad pun.  :)
